Dutton Park is a suburb of Brisbane and is located about 4km south of the Brisbane central business district. The suburbs that surround Dutton Park are Annerley, Fairfield, Highgate Hill, South Brisbane, St Lucia, West End, and Woolloongabba. Dutton Park lies on a ridge to the east of the Brisbane river, opposite from St Lucia. 

Development in the suburb was slow due to difficult terrain and a large part of the area was surveyed for government reserves. Nowadays, the suburb has some light industrial and commercial areas but is predominantly residential. The suburb got its name from Charles Boydell Dutton, the Queensland Minister for Lands from 1883 to 1887, who created the recreation reserve in 1884. The recreation reserve became known as Dutton’s Park and was also later applied to surrounding estates, a school, and a railway station before the name was applied to the whole suburb. 

Dutton Park is home to a few heritage listings such as Boggo Road Gaol, Kurrowah, and Gair Park South Brisbane Cemetery. The former Boggo Road Gaol was located in the suburb and the remaining structure is now a historical museum. The suburb is easily accessible as it has become a major hub for the Brisbane City Busway. Dutton Park is also served by the Dutton Park Railway Station. In 2011, Dutton Park also became home to the Ecosciences Precinct.
