Deagon is one of the outer suburbs of Brisbane that is located in the northern area. It is located about 16km north of the Brisbane central business district and is surrounded by Bracken Ridge, Sandgate, Shorncliffe, Boondall, and Taigum. The suburb was named after William Deagon, the Mayor of Sandgate from 1882 until 1884. 

The area was known as “William Deagon” for quite some time. The name was used for the locality went the railway line was built in the area in 1887. The racecourse, the railway station, Deagon Street, and the Deagon Wetlands now bear his name. The Deagon Post Office opened at Mr. Torpie’s store next to the railway station in 1947. The area is habited by animals, including migratory birds that have made their way from the arctic circle. The suburb can easily be accessed via the Gateway Motorway and Sandgate Road. Deagon has a railway line with three stations for easy access of the suburb’s residents. These stations are North Boondall, Sandgate, and Deagon.
