Salisbury is a suburb of Brisbane, Australia and is located 9km south of the city’s central business district. The suburb is surrounded by the following suburbs: Moorooka, Rocklea, Archerfield, Coopers Plains, Nathan, and Tarragindi. The suburb got the name “Salisbury” after the residence of William Coote, an early Brisbane journalist and political figure who lived in the area. 

The name was chosen by the railway department when the Sunnybank/South Coast Railway Line opened in 1885. After World War II, the suburb remained predominantly rural. Because of its comparative remoteness, a series of munition factories were built in the area along what is now Evans Road. 

However, significant residential development occurred during the post-war years and started growing rapidly from the 1960s. Presently, Salisbury is an established residential and industrial area, with extensive parklands in the northern area. Boolang Press, a book publishing company, has its headquarters in the suburb.
